Is there a manual, besides the one on their website, that better explains soft center's Flash Extractor software?

Not really, no.

Practise and perseverance is what's required, and their support is pretty good. They will assist you through the first few recoveries.

If you're expecting a turnkey solution then think again my friend!

Flash recovery is notoriously difficult and although SC do try to make it easier with their new sw, it is sometimes VERY difficult to recover data from certain devices. A manual couldn't possibly cover all eventualities.

SC - in another word - Different World - Sometimes very easy MOST OF THE TIME Nightmares
but it is the BEST tool ever.

When I first started using SC I wrote a internal manual documenting it, to help train other engineers here. But with new controllers comes new data mixes and internal structures, the algorithms used in modern controllers and in SSD is extremely complex and changes often.

This rendered all documentation I wrote old and pretty much no longer relevant!

PCimage is right, a manual cannot cover all aspects of it. It is mostly about patience and experience and a understanding of how Flash drives work.

Also it is very difficult to recover these devices, yet the perception in the market is that its a quick $40 recovery. Until customers can understand the real difficulty in recovering them and appreciate all the work required it will always be difficult to justify costs. At least this is biggest problem for me in Flash
