Hi all !, I managed to unlock the Toshiba MK5055GSX Firmware ver. FG001M
User Password was forgotten, Security - Maximum, Master Password unchanged.

Here's the solution that helped me !

I have created the dos bootable usb and copied onto atapwd.exe and zu.exe programs.
Next I've run the atapwd.exe and issued the command SECURITY ERASE PREPARE and exit the program.
Next run the zu.exe with zu /s in my case and Bam !!! hdd unlocked !! :)

Hopefully this will help someone ;)

Don't bother, that only works for WD drives. Thus the name ATAPWD.exe

ATAPWD targets all drives.

ATA -> Advanced Technology Attachment
PWD -> password

I don't understand why you need to issue a SECURITY ERASE PREPARE command. Shouldn't ZU work on its own?

Here's what was my issue.
When I was booting up from my Dell 755 machine bios was asking me for password for the locked drive, I hit esc button to skip and boot from the other drive to Linux to try out some options with hdparm with no luck, all I was getting Input/Output errors and same for MHDD.

So coming back to hdparm errors Input/output, I was thinking that maybe when I press the ESC button when the drive is asking me for password the drive is kind of locking him self and don't accept any of the commands ?

So my hypothesis is that SECURE ERASE PREPARE command is kind of unblocking the drive so it can continue with unlocking it ?

Security Is Locked Security is enabled. In addition, access to the device is restricted.
(e.g. Security state SEC4). could this be the case ?

At the first attempt I have tried ZU on its own but it didn't work.

SECURITY ERASE PREPARE is not required, the zu operates in a vendor-mode

Some vendors have tools which can erase SSDs by using the PSID on the label.

I dont find a PSID on my drive.
Now i try Darik's Boot and Nuke to wipe the disk.
