I am looking for either a DR engineer that is a RAID specialist that specializes in SAN recoveries, or can write scripts to accommodate SAN recoveries after all the drives have been imaged. In particular if someone has some experience with EqualLogic SAN units that would be ideal. The company I represent is willing to set up remote recovery sessions if necessary (ie you log into a system set up for you with you controlling the permissions) and have more than enough engineers to perform imaging from bad read and write heads, so you would most likely be working with direct images of the drives in the SAN unit. Or, if necessary we would be willing to send images directly to wherever you are located; preferably in the United States but would be willing to do this in other countries as well. As far as if there are some custom utilities any of you could create to help in SAN recoveries, my company would be more than willing to pay top dollar for these developed utilities. Please PM me if you are interested, and if you can meet the guidelines and have the capabilities to perform these recoveries or create these scripts.

With all respect to Dr.Kiev skills and knowledge, RAID recovery and SAN recovery are two very different things.
SUNs are MUCH more complicated in general.

a Raid is a RAID and is a raid, difference is only the way you connect to it. It's either DAS, NAS or SAN.
I think you mean that there is a difference in complexity in recovering data from some simple raid arrays and some enterprise class storage raid's which usually are more complex due to size, volume of drives and often different sector sizes.

I have a serious doubt that anybody here has recovered EqualLogic SAN

quasimodo, you really have no idea what SAN is, I'd suggest you to go and read wiki. Then you'd undestand the problem.
Repairing RAID from SAN system is not an issue, the problem is after that. SAN is on top of the RAID, and it really f#$%ks up everything.
All data is in 2-MB blocks all over the place. Add there dynamic allocation, resizing, and snapshots, 256+ volumes, and you'll get the picture.
Equilogic is one of the worst and most complex of them. I heard that only Ontrack has the solution, and they got it from Dell.

So it would be very interesting to hear if anyone reading this REALLY had a successful recovery from EqualLogic.
Not "let me take a look on drives, i'll tell", but the already tested solution.
