About the Role

The role will involve data recovery on the highest level. Failures with a mechanical cause will be the primary focus here. This role will be responsible for delivering world class results and will interface directly with the R&D department to develop new tools and solutions, both physical and digital in nature.

You will:

    Evaluate and determine if and how data can be recovered from a wide variety of recording and storage media, including HDD and flash drives, but also other magnetic and optical media, file and mail systems.
    Recover data from media with a wide variety of problems, including physical, electrical, and firmware damage.
    Replace defective read/write recording head assemblies and transplant platters on defective hard drives.
    Analyze and repair damaged or corrupted file system and deleted files.

About you:

    Excellent problem-solving skills
    Good Engineering verification and evaluation skills
    Ability to manage multiple (10+) difficult data recovery cases simultaneously
    Critical thinker

Your experience includes:

    Solid working knowledge of hard drive engineering and functionality.
    Highly experienced in transplanting HSA's on modern drives.
    Strong knowledge of FAT, NTFS, HFS, APFS, ExtFS, XFS, etc.
    Knowledge of firmware architecture and reverse engineering for storage is required.
    Hands on experience disassembling various computer and peripherals hardware.
    Electronic components soldering skills are required.

You may also have:

    Experience with SATA/PATA, SCSI, USB, serial bus analysis is strongly preferred.
    Circuit design experience is helpful.

True, We expect a lot of our senior engineers, from soldering such as on SSD and flash to transplanting failed heads and platters. All the way to reverse engineering firmware.

Im guessing reversing other peoples firmware to get ideas on how to do it properly

What is considered difficult? If it is truly difficult, in my opinion, it cannot truly be worked on simultaneously until it is stabilized and mirroring.

I think most of us are critical of Seagate's data recovery services, does that count?

On a more serious note, this might be a good opportunity for a skilled one man shop looking for job security and a stable pay check.

Is the job only limited to USA and Netherlands citizens? or is it available to people outside?
