I am new to Digital Recovery and Computer Forensics in general. My question is Where do I Start?
What should I look for as a first job? What classes should I take? What are the best certifications? Where could I go to study? Ect........

Any advice. And I do mean any advice would be helpful

Hi there !

Nice to have a new GIRLLLLLL here :) Be welcomed.

If you seek information about DATA RECOVERY at HARD DRIVE level (and not just forensics) i would say for you to start reading this thread on my forum :

http://www.hddoracle.com/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=176

This will provide you with some links about topics to study.

Don't think about getting classes or certifications without first checking out what data recovery really is and to have at least a general idea about the subject.

If you really think that data recovery is what you want to do then get ready to INVEST on some tools like a firmware tool or at least a good hardware imager and get a huge amount of drives to PRACTICE.

If your aim is just forensics you will need some tools as well. You can start by checking the popular encase or the free open source autopsy.

Also you will need a write blocker to assure you will not write to a drive under investigation.

Regards !!!
