Building a Computer Forensic Lab and Data Recovery Lab

March 27th, 2016, 0:36

Hi everyone! i'm working in my company to build a computer forensic Lab and Data Recovery Lab.

I have all done with the Forensic Lab, i buy a FRED from Digital Intelligence and Encase, FTK and Nuix for processing the disks.

But for the Data Recovery Lab.. i don't have much. i have the Portable Clean Room Hood- 18” Wide (SS-218-PCR) http://www.sentryair.com/brochures/ss-218-pcr.pdf from Sentry Air, but i dont have the right tools for head or plate replace tools.

i see only HD HPE PRO from salvation data, but i'm not shure. any recomendation? i want to start in data recovery from scratch. i use PCI-3000 UDMA in the past, but only to fix firmware issues.

Any great training in Data Recovery?

Thanks! i wait any comments! :)

What is your budget ?
Are you gonna do flash ?

Do you have experienced technicians or are you gonna start it as a 1 man biz ?

Go for PC-3000 express & HDDSurgery tools and get good training from both of them..
That's all you needed for a successful datarecovery center.

I would say it is just beginning of the journey.

You must reserve few years at least for learning and gather experience.

This is like saying all you need to perform surgery is a sharp scalpel, some sutchers, a good light, and some benedine. There's a million other things you might need, knowledge & experience being the major ones.

Knowledge and experience will come, working in the field. You should have your background, of course.

I'd hate to be one of your first few hundred customers who end up losing their data permanently because you're learning using them as a guinea pig.
