there no recovery at all for this type of encryption unless you have the information to begin with.

if you do have that and the hard drive is working order follow this below and it will help you in recovery the data

https://support.kaspersky.com/learning/ ... 1_chapter2

but if the hard drive is faulty

there is no way of recovery at all and that from kaspersky direct.

case is bit strange, as per user info FDE was enabled on the drive they do have valid credentials. Something happen and user profile got corrupted, strange thing for me is that they was able to copy all data to an other drive, they just checked C drive data, e.g desktop, documents and it was working so they assumed rest of the data is working too. They install a new windwos and when they restore all backup back to the drive, they came to know that only C Drive data is working rest is not. there are 2 more partitions which data is required.

Mostly office data, word, excel, pdf, ppt and pictures, all file's headers has same pattern which seems that they are still encrypted.

thanks for the info, will look at it.

regards

they should be able to do a emergency boot disc
if they have all the information

but i would try and do a restore of the two missing partitions first.
and then see if the data is still there.
which it should be.

use a program called mini tools this has not let me down once yet.

it will show you the missing partitions and your be able to restore it with the working c drive.
and should show in windows.

hopefuly kaspersky endpoint Uncrypt the data unless its got more security addons.

I would also do the same, but unfortunately the restore backup to the same drive, so finding old partition would be useless I think.
