Two Cams & Two Photos - Compare

June 19th, 2019, 3:44

Hello guys,,

I was wondering if anyone knows if i have TWO identical Camera Models taking the same photo (some how)
is there any way to know if Photo-A been taken by Camera-A?

like a Lens Signature or something? (Image Exif)

most of dslr camera file system has meta data. you can get camera serial number, lens serial number, aperture, shutter speed, picture profile and even shutter count.

most of sony video camera has this all features in MTS, MP4 file system.

check your PM.

I am sure Einstein9 knows about EXIF data but maybe he means like the image itself? like if you high resolution scanned each image, then compared them. Similar to the yellow dots that are reported to be in printers printouts that can uniquely identify printers?

Personally I don't think any intentional signatures would be there, but if you were to forensically examine the camera for lens imperfections, dust or what-have-you, you would find some. similar to the old school typewriters all having unique "signatures" of letter head impression differences.

If my theory is right, you would need to examine cameras as well as image otherwise you may know there is a difference, but wouldn't know which camera had which difference

actually i can't understand what you mean. you mean hires photo scanning image like, HaQue told. ??
like hidden pattern or unique dots on picture.

bec. every canon and sony .jpg file inside has unique info like camera body serial number and lens serial number and much more.
that software which i sent, it can find camera serial number easily.

if you can upload 2 images, you assume.

according to your pic. this is canon powershot sx130 amateur camera. this camera has NO LENS ID. bec. this has inbuilt lens.

this ID only for interchangeable LENS. it means separate lenses. interchangeable lenses have ROM. which hold LENS ID.

if you using canon interchangeable lens for canon camera it takes LENS ID.

but if you using Nikon lens via canon adaptor, this ID won't work and camera fill 00 00 hex code for that field. sometimes this 00 get as unknown ID.

this kind of all ameture camera using same firmware DATA. all DATA is same.

but interchangeable proffesionl camera needs to align and calliber.like CMOS,lens focal distance for CMOS. if you get 10 cameras which colours are same.so every firmware has defferant values. like hard drive firmware. and they insert the serial number one by one. so about armature camera, they won't waste their time. they use common firmware and same data.

but there is one thing for this kind of ameture camera. normally there are one or two fields inside the menu called "Customer name or custome ID". and another field called "user comment".you can use owner name or customer comment as a unique ID. i think if you have a luck, your camera support this.

=============
if you need, you send the 2 pictures. i will check manually.

Just a side comment : for that kind of screenshot, PNG format would make smaller files with a better (lossless) quality.
