Post subject:  Remove heads from Samsung Drives

Hi

I have HDDSurgery Samsung tools to do this.
Already got 2 drives with this symptom:

When I want to unscrew the heads from the case, the screw doesn't even move. The tool isn't able to unscrew it too.
I have tried using a screw driver inside the head shaft and nothing. Actually the inside of the shaft is getting round....

Does anyone have any tips on this kind of thing??

Even Zarko from HDDSurgery says it's not very normal this to happen, and I got this on 2 drives already... Fortunately (or not) on 2 donors, not on pacient.
Thanks

We never had this kind of problem while changing heads on Samsung drives. Samsung tools are in regular use in HelpDisc for few years already and many successful head swaps were performed on Samsung hard drives - however this heavy stripped head screw problem never happened.
Even no one from our clients who bought our Samsung tools had complaints on such issue.

So I suppose that problem which have pclab is really uncommon - that head screw is so stripped that even big flat screwdriver can't loosen it and allow heads to be dismounted from the donor drive casing. If flat screwdriver directly can't loosen the screw, surely it couldn't be loosened over tool shaft. Obviously it is drive's, not tool's problem.

I said to pclab already - drive from which heads can't be extracted can't be considered a donor drive. :)

Pclab, have you solved problem in the meantime? You found donor drive from which heads can be extracted?

Hi

I got a different drive for donor. The one that I was willing to took heads, eventually died...

In the meanwhile, I got a WD drive which I can't remove one of the top screws... It is so tight, I can't unscrew it

This is getting usual....
