That should be relatively easy for a DR / electronics shop to solder on to recover. I recommend Pcimage in Peterborough. Not sure how that lies with your location.. http://www.pcimage.co.uk/contact.htm You can never assume only the connector is the issue once things get broke, but it looks promising. |

For me, it’s better to change the controller to a SATA one and switch the ROM chip. This gives better control for sorting out other issues. PM me if interested, with a good HDD guru discount |

So I have managed to get the HDD to power on by literally holding the USB connector in place on the board. The problem I have then discovered is there is a small pin that has come away from the USB connector which presumably is something that helps with the data reading as although the HDD powers on, it will not show up on my mac. So I'm not sure resoldering on the USB connector will work with the added problem of the pin also disconnecting from the connector. |
