I don't understand the BCH operator. Of what I can find, BCH is a generic ECC algorithm that's used by many (but not all) controllers.

When clicking the lightbulb a list shows up. How do I know which BCH-element to use?

Is BCH needed even if the dump was top-notch (i.e. free of bit errors), or is that its only purpose?

How do you know that the dump is error free until you verify the data against the ECC?
