Automatic Bad Column Removal

August 28th, 2018, 19:48

How does the new Bad Column Removal tool work? and where does the element fit into the case?

Rusolut if you are watching, in support you have two example cases at the bottom of the linked page, but both appear to link to the 'old fashioned' way of removing bad columns. I presume one of these links should take you to how the new tool works.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi ddrecovery,

You right we have little outdated videos there.
In the current software you can use just one BCR element to remove all bad columns.
It has to be connected right after Phy Image (then you use BCR as your image for further analysis)
Connect BCR, set the block size according to height of bad column (num of pages in bad col x page size) then click EDIT.
From there you need to remove bad cols from both planes.
Adjust width to 2 bytes (usually, depending on the size of your bad cols)
In order to ADD bad column (to remove infact) find it and SHIFT+click (now it's yellow and you see address in the list at right side of screen).
In order to DELETE wrong bad col (in case of mistake) CTRL+click.
You should do this till the end of page for both (rarely 4) planes.
Once you finished just close editor continue analysis.
