Post subject:  Toshiba Pendrive - Steps to follow.

Hi.

I have a Toshiba Pendrive with the following characteristics:
Controller: TC58NC6625G6F
NAND: TC58TFG7EFLTA03.

I have made the NAND dump but I do not know what steps to follow to recover the information.

It is a case of study.

Thanks in advance.

Hi.
I continue with this case of toshiba.
Someone knows some method to create some type of virtual translator for this type of toshiba pendrive, which does not incorporate lbn in the firmware. Or at least I think so.

Thank you.

This one is a WL chip. if the drive is 8GB then possibly refurbished as that ID is 16GB

Those chips use virtual translator. FE might be able to do it. I don't know if VNR does support VT. These controllers can be a PITA

Hello,
Can you explain me what you mea by WL chip ? . I have done a few SSS controllers with VNR as its My Primary Tool For Flash Work .One of it we were unable to make a file system due to no typical markers in sa area ,But raw recovery worked , pc3k has a very powerful function were it can work with controllers like this .

a WL chip means that it has either a bad columns file stored on the chip ( you would have read one with VNR I think by now) or it has bad columns stored in software. SC calls them bad bytes.

To be honest I am confused with the terminology. I have seen WL chips referenced in SC software, and I don't know what Sergeys context of it is. I would have guessed "Word Line". But, if Rusolut are calling them Bad Columns, I thought the Word Line was the horizontal line (row), and the vertical is the bit line (column).

The other possibility is that he really means VL chip, because I see him refer to Team Viewer as TW (getting the V and W mixed up), and could just be a Russian thing.

In any case, it is an additional configuration parameter.

yep, in flash terminology WL stands for Wear Leveling but in this case that would be BS.

Haque ,
The Case Is a Pita ,VNR Reader Cannot Read Chip Properly ,Only PC3K Flash Can ,Rusolut Is Working On It ,Currently BCR Element Was Used And BAD Columbs Were Removed .Bartek Was Looking Into Case And He Did Not use a XOR that was there in VNR ,He created a new one for this case ,As of now no ECC correction and Sasha is working on to why VNR is Unable To Read This Chip ,And Yup it was 16GB Dump as you rightly pointed out ,I have a question for you if we see chips like this how do we map unused section of the chip ?

This ID: 983AA892 7650?
Config for this chip exist in VNR. What is the probem?

Modern chips such as TLC are divided into 3 pages on word lines. Each page has a separate address on the WL line. Such rules are called WL.The corresponding rules must be followed when reading pages and programming to pages。 Of course WL should be a vocabulary created by a developer engaged in flash data recovery. For flash memory manufacturers, a more accurate term should be called ED3 (Toshiba, Samsung) or OBP (Micron, Intel)
