Today i was trying to backup SA + ROM + LDR of a fresh new Seagate Grenada, model ST1000DM003-1ER162, fw CC43, PCB 100724095.
MRT doesn't work at all on this drive!! :?
I could backup only the ROM in boot code mode, not possible to backup rom via ATA mode.

I was not able to backup mods, tracks, system files, can't build LDR, etc...

In fact, DM003 series is divided into two categories.
The first category is the ordinary DM003. Compare with other Seagate, it has no difference.
The second category is a special DM003. This kind of hard drive, no matter what ATA commands or terminal commands are completely different with other Seagate.
So it can not support now. (PC3000 currently doesn't support either)

This hard drive has an identification method. That is unable to get to the module list and CP lists.
When inputting common commands in terminal (such as Q command under C-level), it will show command error.

This kind of HDD temporarily has no way to fix, if users have DIY spirit.
They can try to flash one of the other versions ROM into HDD. And to check if it can enter the factory mode (remember to backup the old ROM).

I future wants to buy DDI and PC3k.

Once you get PC3K+DE & DDI+USB+Network, you may find that the other tools mentioned above will end up on a shelf. You may still use Atola for overflow, until you can get PC3K and DDI units.

I totally agree with you!! I had almost all tools out there (including all Salvation crap that been keeping dust now for many many years) and this spending lots of dollars!

What you want is a complete system that have been around a long long time and with the best support out there!
I can say there is only one system that gives you all that, no dought! it is the PC3000! Say what you want. But if you havent worked on a PC3000 daily before then you can not say nothing! The PC3000 + DE has solved so many many cases for me i had laying around that other tool couldnt!

It took me over 10 years to finally understand that, and today i use PC3000 + DE everyday and i can not say how much i regret that i didnt buy this system 12 years ago!!!!! But that how it is.. and instead i am smiling everyday working on the system :)

Also the SSD addon is an great tool, can not live without it!
So i ended up buying PC3000+DE/SSD/Flash and i must say that this is the most complete professional system out there, period!
The support is excellent!

I also use Soft centers tool Flash Extractor that also is excellent.
I have not tryed the DDI, but i have several friends using them daily and they like them very much!

Its allways fun to see other competitors but think if you want the best then it costs. Its like comparing a Lamborghini with a Fiat. A Fiat can not win over the Lamborghini in power and speed. Think of that when buying the tool in your life. It is big investment but you will quickly see that this tool is magic and you can recover more jobs then before and more complex work then before = more income. You will be surprised, trust me! You dont want a tool that slows you down and suddenly can not do the thing when PC3000 can, hmm not fun. what you going to say to your customer and what if customer send to other lab and that lab fix drive with PC3000 simple and you couldnt?! Its allways like that. I dont say other tool dont work, they work but far from complete. You want to take that risk?

So if you want to start like a pro then PC3000 is a MUST! Dont think, you will never regret it! The System is the most developed out there, allways in the front, stable, best support, it does the job!! And most important it is a complete system..

Do i have to say anything else ;)

Over & out for me..
