The best way to repair a hdd with damaged heads is to shield these heads. MRT data recovery tools supported head shielding of Seagate 7200.12 series before, now Seagate 5400.6 series is supported. The operation between 7200.12 and 5400.6 series is similar, but there are some details need to be noted. This video demonstrates detailed process of 5400.6 head shielding, which is recommended to have a look if you need to repair laptop disks.
Also, users need to note that the baud rate supported by COM terminal of Seagate laptop disk is lower than that of desktop disk. During the process of head shielding, if the communication is unstable with baud rate 460800 ,users can use a lower rate 110520.
