Post subject: | HGST problem |
I have this HGST 541010A9E680. But its not working....I cannot hear it spins up. I have changed the PCB, but i see there is a small difference on the numbers on some of the chips. But the BIOS seems to be excact. When i swittched the PCB, it sounds like it spins up, i am not sure if there is som activity from the heads, but after a short time it spins down and acts like dead.... I have MRT ultra available, but not quite sure how to and where to start to get data from this disk. Any ideas? I have other HGST, but different models, can i use these bodies if i swap platters and headers? |

Don't even consider any of what you're suggesting unless your intent is to make the data unrecoverable forever. Unless you're ok with losing it forever, seek out professional recovery. |

I have to agree, this sounds like a disaster waiting to happen |

Can you upload detailed photos of your PCBs? |

By saying, "the same numbers" are you referring to the first and second line of the white sticker? |

It seems something already happened to that poor pcb. Can you clean all of it with a good amount of isopropyl alcohol, then take pics from the complete board, both sides ? |

It looks to me that some clueless person tried moving all sorts of chips from one PCB to the other including things like the RAM and main IC. This is hopeless. Go to a professional jonbang, you're just making this more and more complicated and running up the final cost you'll end up paying. |

What you see is the foam between the pcb and the casing that has fastened to the pcb.... |

Are those flecks from foam debris, or does the SDRAM have a hole in it? It would help to see the whole PCB (patient & donor), not just individual components. There is a fuse at the SATA power connector. Is it open? |
