Congratulations !
I don't know if I should pay now 120usd upgrade for support drives manufactured in 2006-2007,most drives coming to my lab are 2-8 years old (2010-2016 that MRT does not support) so to get support from MRT to those drives I might need wait till year 2030 then I will pay for upgrade, but wait,in 2030 will come support for 2016 drives but most drives needed DR will be manufactured in 2025 so what am I supposed to do ?

you would think that they'd include something worth paying for when coming out with a paid upgrade.

drives produced during 2010-2016,such as?

By the way, the new features(Rosewood partial access to user data) released in Seagate Utility are beyond expectations, even better than Pc-3000

I suggest you read the upgrade log carefully.

http://us.mrtlab.com/download/

There is much more there than the T166S family.

ST4000DM005 , ST3000DM008, Apollo family (NAS Drive WD40EFRX)...

Reading the WD modules is very fast!

The Samsung headmap bug fixed (at least in the models where I tested - ST1000LM025).

and yet if none of these interests you, just do not pay for the update, right? :D

Yea,the list you mention worth nothing,MRT used old trick instead report fail software report succeeded while in fact it failed.

And @vx1 if MRT want to base they tool on seagate they should inform people,we geting drives to recover data also from samsung, hitachi,wd,toshiba and for those drives MRT support list (I mean real support) growing extremely slow.

Seems you already updated and tested the program with research purpose like what I am doing right now. But if your investigation goes deeper, you may find that when you disable head 01 by filling 00, the original map directing to sector of head 01 would be redirected to other sectors located on tracks not belonging to head 01. This is my assumption based on my observation so far.

You are absolutely right, the functions of Samsung are VERY basic. We currently receive Samsung as much as WD and Seagate. And we do not have any Samsung stopped waiting for some function that is not available, incidentally, having one or two blocked on LED 1A04, the problems are always head changing or damaged sectors, which obviously is not problem. The success rates are almost always very high.
About half of the Samsung discs we have received have fallen, and we have not faced the issues that Seagate and WD have in such a situation.
Obviously, the utility functions are VERY basic and when we do not have something to solve the problems we encounter, this becomes frustrating.
But I think, in all those years, we were very lucky.
Funny that, now we probably will have less Samsung to handle and you guys know why.
