Hello MRT-users!

I am thinking about getting an MRT Express. I would be interested how are the imaging possibilities. As far as i saw it can switch (U)DMA modes and disable a head but

Can it image in reverse?
Can it image in multiple passes?
Can it use PIO-mode for the frist 137GB?
Can it image to a file?

Thanks.

Thanks. Sounds like the right tool for me...

For firmware repair where I get the Firmware-Files from?

I know that here are some in the files section but as it looks to me far not all. Are there some Websites to download them from or am I dependend on my not very good reverse engineering and assembler skills to fix firmware issues?

Generally MRT is full of glitches, but one thing it is good at is fast imaging.

There are a lot of bugs in MRT. Too many to mention. But at the price it is a good tool, just not as good as PC3000.

OK, also in the imaging process or just in other more advanced things?

Good morning @Amarbir you woke up ? where have you been in the last year (your last post in MRT forum before six days ago "amazing updata around the corner" was year ago) when we suffered from MRT bugs ?
I suggest you need first read the bugs reported here in this forum with full details (and there are many, most of them have been fixed by now) before you start shooting anywhere.
Here's a fresh thing I came across,I want to disable head 0 in hitachi arm and boot from copy 1 to read data,is it so complicated ? apparently MRT can disable only head 1 not 0 I tried several ARM models.

And the most annoying bug in DE , the "long path name " bug, is still there after sooo many years of MRT existence....

Is it also possible to fiddle with:

  • the initialisation commands (recalibrate, initialize device, ...) and
  • the reset modes (sofware, hardware - controller reset, comreset, ...)

Does MRT allow to deactivate unneeded things like SMART or Bad Sector Auto-Reallocation while imaging?

It can do all of the above.

I have both acelab and mrt and i can say you can do pretty much all your work with mrt.

And don't think acelab don't have problems like gliches and bugs, because they do.

So whatever tool you choose it's not perfect.

Post subject:  Re: MRT Imaging

I was actually finnish with the DDI manual - just was curious how close MRT come to DDI.
I am really sure a RapidSpar + all Adapters and the MRT Express Online for more advanced Tasks will be perfect start for me.

But thanks, I am aware that DR is not a "normal task" and handeling drives in extreme situations can't be the smoothest experience no matter what tools I use. Can't await to have finally my new tools here and start that exciting new business.

Thanks @ all for the tips and your help!

Well,
I Second Your Opinion That All Tools Are Full Of Bugs , MRT Is Quite Bugless As of Now
