I don't use PC3000. As of now, the Rapidspar (excellent support) in combination with MRT (despite a lack of support) works 100 percent for me. Just added WD Marvel and it's a perfect combination.

I'm close to biting the bullet on a DD3000 English version but still waiting on feedback from anyone who owns one. Is this tool a best kept secret ?

Hello,
Observing the operation of the MRTLAB, I see that the voltage of the 5v drops to very low levels. I have been able to observe damage in the 5 volt power tracks to the tps2420, which is why I have jumped from the card's 5v power input to the 4 vin pins of the tps2420, with which I have achieved that the voltage of the 5V does not lower me as much and at the moment it works, I think that it is a failure in the size of the tracks of 5v. At the moment it works well for me.

Incidentally, the TPS2420 is configured for a 3 to 4 amp current draw. I think it is a design flaw, because if there is a short, a lot of current can pass through the tracks for a brief moment and can damage them slowly, it would have been better to configure it for a maximum of 2 Amps. It's just an opinion.

You may try with TRIAL version of UFS Explorer Professional recovery version 8.2, because new release have updates:
* Support of MRT DE Tasks:
- Added option to load Task from context menu of virtual task disk mapped to OS;
- Loading source name/ID information from the Task file;
- Loading map of defects associated with the Task file;
- Control of disk imaging via running MRT software (by ranges, files, maps etc.);

Another way to solve the problem of falling 5v is without touching the card, place a 7805 between the 12v and 5v gnd.

This would factor the heatsink for the 7805.

The problem is not found in the tps2420 and removing them could cause damage to the card in case of connecting a hard disk with the short circuited tvs.

Does MRT have a current monitoring feature in software? If not, then one could add such a feature as follows.

TPS2420:
https://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/slus903

The TPS2420 load switch has an IMON pin (current monitor) which is a "scaled down current which indicates the current through the device". It is a "scaled analog output of IVin".

"This pin is clamped at 2.5 V to protect A/D converters. It is recommended that IMON be ignored until after PG asserts because the IMON output is accurate only after VOUT > 3 V."

In other words, the voltage output at IMON is proportional to the current flowing into the IC's input. ISTM that one could tap into this pin and monitor it with a cheap SBC that has an ADC input, or you could watch it on an oscilloscope.

To my knowledge, MRT does not have monitoring of the channel voltage and as you say, it could be monitored, but what I was looking for was stability in the hard drives, because they did not work properly and it seemed that they were wrong and when they did they did not work properly. adequate in some cases.

At the moment I will replace the lm7805 with an LDO.
Thanks for the idea.

Later I will open a thread with different adapters for the different ssd formats, to try to give the MRT some more functionality.

An LDO is only necessary when the input-output differential ("drop-out") is less than ~2V. In any case I would think that your modification would upset the PSU's regulation of the 5V rail. It just doesn't seem right to me. :?

I don't quite understand what you are saying about using translators.
Do you think that with the lm7805 it is not suitable or if I put the LDO?

Post subject:  Re: Is MRT worth a try ?

These 3-terminal regulators only regulate properly when the difference between Vin and Vout (the "drop-out voltage") is greater than a specified minimum. If Vin is too low, then the output will be unable to maintain the rated voltage/current.

A Low Drop-Out regulator is optimised so that it can operate with a low voltage difference. For example, an LM1117 LDO regulator has a drop-out voltage of 1.2V. This means that an LM1117-5.0 regulator will operate correctly at input voltages as low as 6.2V. OTOH, an LM7805 has a drop-out voltage of 2V, so it requires a minimum input of 7.0V.

https://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/lm1117.pdf
https://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/lm340.pdf

Also, your proposed arrangement connects two regulators (the 7805 and the PSU itself) to the same rail. This means that each regulator will be fighting the other. That's a bad idea.

Thank you very much for the clarification on the ldo. You are right in the analysis but the great input impedance that the lm7805 has in the output I think will help. At the moment solve the problem, but as always your analysis is precise and rigorous.

If an external source with relay control is used using the 5v of the MRTLAB output power, I can already work stably. I have done tests connecting directly to MRTLAB and external power supply and the outputs of MRTLAB gives unwanted effects.

Maybe a bit lame question but listings like this are legitim or not? Is anybody know seller mrtlab2017 or made a trade with him? Or the one and only place where I can legally get the MRT Ultra is http://en.mrtlab.com?

That is legit, but they don't everything: it's the price only for the card. You have to pay the monthly payments to have the software working.

Thank you for your answer! Yes, I saw their pricing strategy, USD 450 down payment and USD 190 monthly. A little bit weird that he invited me to a Skype chat with a random username. Do you know, how much is the newly announced programmer v3 and where can I get it?

Just for the record: the new v3 programmer is USD 79.
