Post subject:  How to create proper bad files list with AGENT RANSACK

MRT is not able to build proper file list of bad files.
It drops all bad files in a single folder called !Bad Files, your customer will say "What the hell i should understand from this junk"?
If you don't know what i'm talking about, please read this topic:
https://forum.hddguru.com/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=38744

I've the solution! :D
First of all, remember to tick "Fill read failure data" in Failure setting and choose "Fill bad!" option.
Clone the drive, when finish if it has jumped some areas (yellow squares) then fill with reds by reading those. I suggest you to use very low timings to be faster.
If you think that on those yellow sectors there aren't needed data for your customer, leave them as they are.
At last, mount the task as "Read Mode" in windows, so that OS will not attempt to write on clone drive.

1) Choose "expert mode"

2) Insert as text to search "bad!bad!bad!" without "", this is the pattern that MRT has written on bad sectors.
I typed "bad!" 3 times because if you type just one it might find good files with that pattern, a real bad file has multiple consecutives of this pattern.
I made also a video which i posted on youtube, link is on bottom, where i inserted just a single "bad!" but that isn't correct. I wrote a note in descrptions under the video to remind to insert at least 3 consecutive "bad!".

3) Choose the folder (or the folders) where you want to search for those bad files.
I do not suggest to search directly on the main root (drive letter) because the software will crash often. Probably it is ok to search from drive letter if filesystem is small or if you have only few bad files, what i can say is that Agent Ransack crashed on all the test i did after a while when i choose to search on drive letter of this HDD.

4) START
You will see scrolling founded bad files on the left panel, when it will end click on icon 5.

5) Set options as the following pic. Choose the output folder where you want to drop the copy of founded bad files.

P.S.
Use UFS Explorer or Snap2HTML to build HTML list with expandable folder structure.

You can also use FileLocator Pro software instead Agent Ransack
https://www.mythicsoft.com/filelocatorpro/download/

Is necessary to tick option "Deep Search" in settings (both the software).

With the upcoming UFS update, this will all be simplified. It will require a licensed pro version to save the files out, but it will do so in a single step. And you can use UFS to generate an HTML file report...though, you would have to load the file tree from the destination if you want to show the damaged files separated from the good ones.

I can also confirm that if you are targeting specific files and folders, UFS will make a map and instruct MRT to image linearly rather than file by file like MRT-DE does. Let thrashing and theoretically faster sustained speeds for larger chains.
