hi,

I'm very new to data recovory, so excuse me my may silly questions in the future here. I dont found the right forum so I post here a question, sorry if this is the wrong place.

may you can help me finding the right donor for this hard disk:

Samsung HD103SI (1000 GB/R54/32M)
Model: HD103SI
HDD P/N: HD103SI/TKY
S/N: S23HJ9BS800550
P/N: 499431FS856814

There are a lot of Samsung HD103SI hard disks ... but I'm not sure which one will be ok?

Which of the information are important to look? Must the S/N or P/N be 100% ident? What if the HDD P/N is just HD103SI (without TKY) or HD103SI/Y?

thank you for your tipps.

With this Samsung HD only the platters are OK, Head is demaged, circuit board may demaged, don't know yet.
My plan was to change Head and circuit board first ...

Or may it's better to swap platters?

My problem is that I dont find exactly the same donor at the moment. May it's possible to use a different donor if I swap platters only?

Anytime someone thinks that the platters may be the best thing to move, means they should not be attempting data recovery...

Moving the platters is only needed when there is a motor failure. You never want to tamper with the platters.

First you need to figure out the failure before you try to fix it.

Good luck
