Hi everyone,

I been using excel  to keep track of my work and business in DR, but since the list of orders and customer is growing it become very difficult to keep track of everything.

Does anyone recommend a software  or if you can share with us "How you keep track of your business" :?:

Well, if you want to continue with Excel, buy the book "Data Smart". You might get an Excel Anurism, but you can also waltz around the office knowing that you can out-cell, out-table and out-solve anyone in the room ;) http://au.wiley.com/WileyCDA/WileyTitle/productCd-111866146X.html (sidenote - I want one of those elevating tables in the video for my computer cave!)

Otherwise, I have fould a ticketing system useful, at work I use the free downloadable VM "HESK".

Depends on what you want to manage, such as do you want to add acounting or just keep track of jobs and job status, customer names, addresses etc..

You may have to consider legal requirements of PII, Personally Identifiable Information, and other legal constraints.

I hear you. The problem is, no-one makes such simple software. All the ones I have seen has lots of features, many we don't need. You might be able to build your own using the example databases from Microsoft access. I think there is one called Northwind or something.. and customise it..

Another option is to go to a "hire a programmer" site and get someone to create one that you want. Some examples I have seen from my friends and colleagues that have already had some things coded for them have impressed me, after initially "pooh-poohing" the idea.

You could have what you want in a few days.

I've designed a software for a data recovery company - the one we use. It's made in Java (Spring MVC + Hibernate) and must sit on a Java server instance (Tomcat, for example). It can run on a local server, anyway, with a database server (locally as well if you haven't got a dedicated DB server).

It can keep track of jobs, job statuses, customers, devices, hard disk manufacturers, models, users, failure types, etc. and it has some logging and reporting mechanisms. It can be used for emailing with customers using preformatted templates (one click for sending PDF invoices, budgets, recovered-file lists, etc.).

Simple and quite powerful. Made for this.

I can sell it to you. PM me if you are interested.

It's called Java because you have time to make a cup of coffee while it's booting ;@)

Well, it depends on the purpose of the app and its environment.

I was adding a few features, I will record the video this week, I promise.

I run on a few cool website which offer a repair tracker system like

http://pcrepairtracker.com/

http://www.repairtraq.com/

http://www.bsoftwaresolutions.co.uk/ind ... g-software?

But none of them is designed to fit DR tasks.

Please share your story so we all benefit :o
