Seagate ST1000 DM003 cant access TTL

October 7th, 2016, 16:08

Hi all i try to access the ST1000DM003 1TB is the terminal locked ?

and another question I also try to read the chip with the LT866CS but which chip do I need to choose ?

my idea is to read the chip of the original PCB and write it in the donor later if i got it.

so I dont need to reflow

Pleas move post if its wrong here

thank you

What is the exact problem with the drive ?
ST1000DM003 have locked terminal access. If you don't have the latest version of PC3K you can't "unlock" the terminal access.
Most likely your drive doesn't have a PCB issue.
If you need the data then send the drive to a data recovery firm (with PC3K).
The ROM that you will need to read/write is an 8 leg SOIC 8 that shouldbe somewhere on the PCB. Just check all SOIC8 chips and read it's marks/printing to see if they are actually flash/rom chips. You can post a picture of the PCB and i will mark the chip for you.

Hi Thank you for the reply

here are some pictures

so my idea is to read the rom with the LT866CS then write the data to a donor
so i dont need to put the SOIC8 from the old PCB to the new one (soldering(reflow)

and then try to use it.

symtomes are:

shortly clicking
hdd not regonized / even in BIOS
with another PCB it regonized and shows some GB but tis is only for test and is not clicking

so I guess its a PCB or a firmware error

I found some Infos for terminal mode there is a way to shorting some pins on the PCB to get access
havent tryed yet

thank you for help :)
