I was having some dinner and decided to have a look at how one might use a laser for cleaning monoliths, like all you billion $$ recovery companies...

I came across this one, and holy cow!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ACGSzBXKONo

0:27 .. many moons ago I did some garnet blasting for work, and cleaning this type of stuff was not that easy.
1:07 .. ahh, I don't care, I am NOT doing that!
2:15 .. sprrt! I just choked on my dinner!

Those things are cool.
Wonder if it works on glass (platters)?
Yeah, it will be a while before those become affordable.

some time ago when i saw one of the members here using it for Monolith cases i started thinking that i might need one
but when i saw those crazy numbers $$$ i changed my mind plus most of my clients will not pay much for flash cases...

clients here think: Why should i pay 200-300$ (min.) for such 10$ microsd lake of knowledge respect.
that's why we don`t do or accept much of those unless seriously willing to pay for it..

but its really Amazing what they presented on this video...

so nice. I wonder if poor souls like me can get these stripped from by some service. Obviously not for low volume, but I have over 100 for research / pinout discovery that I really would love to get lasered!

If you really doing good with Monolith you should get one, but if not much then i suggest the old fashion way works

Like you write - it's great when you make a lot but also there are one big adventage of using laser for coating remove too. In case there are cutted tracks or heavily demaged part of monolith you cannot use fiber glass or sand paper... here comes with help laser. These are rare cases but trully speaking we mostly recive "rare" cases.

P.S
We show on this video that we lasered whole monolith microSD but novadays we are using it only to remove coating from places where technological NAND pinout is located.

This is a better URL:
https://www.steamatic.com.au/plc/
https://www.steamatic.com.au/locations/adelaide/

I used to do contracting work at the nearby college about 30 years ago.
