I thought people have to pay $1000+ for DR but what about

September 17th, 2018, 0:36

https://www.300dollardatarecovery.com/d ... ry-prices/

This guy is only charging $300-$500 + donor drive fee for physically damaged HDD like clicking heads, grinding noise. Tough competition to beat.

some people love their work and don't need to make a lot of money.. happy to make enough for them. If you are smart and keep costs down, it is do-able. Other want to expand, hire more people, have flashy "stuff" or a bunch of other factors.

In choosing a service, I would use a bunch of factors: location, price I am willing to pay, reviews, reputation etc etc. cost is not the only factor.

I guess he really love his work because he has multiple copies of PC3000 and Deepspar DDI4. Yikes!!! Must have spent like $50K in equipment but then again he probably do $1K business a day.

In theory, it isn't such a bad idea. Though, I've always felt that it should cost more for physical head changes where extra skills and time is required and not charge charge extra for the 5 minutes it takes to convert USB to SATA or click on the box to decrypt on the fly. But, his model works for him and his clients.

Thing is his business model works for EVERYBODY because price sells / is everything. I agree physical head changes should cost more than $300. I calculated it would cost over $10K to buy all of HDDSURGERY head replacement tools. The second most expensive investment behind PC3000 for sure. But then again you can buy 3D printed ones for $50, I heard they are just as effective.

@digicube Have you sent a few drives in to them to get an idea what the overall process is like based on real experience?

You don`t need to buy all of their tools to get started, small market study will let you know which drive(s) is most common and then you may focus on
in addition of course to the experience, you need to do it alot to get used to it.

We used to outsource before to some well known companies, but now we do it In House.

@labtech I've never used 300DDR service or any other DR service before but their reviews are very good, so I'm confident they are reliable.

i dont think so it depends the numbers of drives he get, for what i see in one video he have about 4 to 5 computers doing DR

i will gues , can not do it about +- 20% to 35%

I have never used 300DDR services, but do know that their abilities are underestimated by many in the industry. That said, I also don't think it is fair to make comments about the capabilities of others without first hand experience, at the very least.

Luke,

What I want to say is for this price the difficult cases: DM series he will not do this for 300usd

When I try to find donors on ebay in the USA, sometimes the donor is very dedicated in some cases close to 250USD.

as I said in my first comment I liked the site, and liked the idea how it does advertising

@Amarbir[CDR-Labs] Do you feel MRT Ultra can solve 90% of jobs sent to you? If not, how many percent then?

Hi,
Lets Talk about the three most popular tools . Ace labs UDMA/Express , MRT Labs Express/Ultra And DFL SRP/And that other things whose name i do not remember .I am Leaving Salvation Data , Deepspar/Rapidspar And Atola Out of this discussion .If you talk about initial started pricing MRT is hard and impossible to beat .It can solve most of the cases if you know how to .So question is how will you learn ,With the manuals MRT gives its impossible .After you have Mix of all tools your learning curve is easy and you can work around a case.In some examples i work on 1 case with 2 tools

We have lower prices then him, and we can do it. A lot of them.
There are things like input costs. We do 300-500 drives a month. Costs here are not big and expertise we have is high.
Is it possible , at least here.
