Hi Gurus,

Well hdd repair 2.0 is claimed to be able to resolve firmware issues on several makes of
hdds (maxtor atleast).

Please share any of your success stories,incidents, experiences,documents if any.

Otherwise let us create doc based on our indivisual experiences.

For anyone that is going to risk their data with this old program I suggest you learn about firmware before making things worse. All it takes is one press of a button and presto your data is gone. Personally, I would never use it on a customer's drive. It has too many bugs...

Yes, I messed up a hdd,but I noticed few things that this prog was really was able to read the Service Area on my maxtor 40GB N40P ARDENT.

Also noticed that this prog does not take : modules and firmwares meant to be used with PC3000.

It does write modules read by pc3k but you need to have good knowledge of firmware structure to be able to use it .

HR2.0 can read/write only a part of the SA, not the entire! (fortunately :D )
This prog don't have a lot of required option, but have a lot of bugs instead.
And yes, agree, one bad click on a button (or even a bad order, wich is not documented), and bye bye data....

watch out with the older version if you test it
not sure with the new one

Hi!
Is it possible to do a Selfscan on Maxtor N40P with this tool, and how ?
Data is not important on the hdd.
