Re: New version of R-Studio

New build of R-Studio, two great improvements: Much faster processing of the HFS file system, and better processing of large disks. Now R-Studio can process 2^64 elements rather than 2^32 as in previous versions. This prevents R-Studio from locking while analysing disks with huge numbers of files. In addition some bugs are fixed.

Jaroslav, it is usually lack of memory to keep structures that comes first not the number of files. Signed Int32 can store a value of 2 billion. I've never seen FS with more than 100 million files

You may be laughing, I'm not Jaroslav, although I know him well.
Well, this is not about the number of files, this is about some elements of a file system used to find files, they easily can exceed 2 billions.

Vladimir , here it is 5 min movie , where you can see how newer RS (5.4.134577) openning HFS+ based on 4Tb array. WinXP (32bit).
It is openning it more than 2 hours (previous version showed more than 4 hours). FS is work , files seems to me work fine, but ... time... is this fine ? .
UFS explorer opens this file's structure immediatly .

Our old license didn't work, we should to ordered new license for 79$ , (just was need HFS speed improvements feature).
So for what we had payed ?
When come XFS fs, HP arrays....features?

In data recovery software, you cannot rely on the fact the filesystem is correct. Hence the procedure is the same for good and damaged filesystem. The same precautions are in place when opening a good filesystem that are used for damaged filesystems.

On the good filesystem, UFS Explorer reads the root of the filesystem and displays it. This works well until you hit some funny situation where there are multiple root objects on the filesystem or something like that.

Per my understanding UFS explorer doesn't scan the whole catalog it just browses. If so the UFS explorer is less preferable for the job with logical issues
If drive has no logical issues MacDrive program will mount your drive in Windows and you don't need any DR programs

As it was correctly mentioned earlier, R-Studio makes a deep analysis of file/folder structure of a partition, not just opens it. That's why it may seem working very slow.
We're cleaning our mess with bugs and making improvements with the features right now, but new features are coming and coming soon.
