WDMarvel23 IS NOT WDR.

WDMarvel23 is a diferent tool (Russian) while WDR is chinese "pirated" tool based on TREX and HRT.

WDR DEMO :

http://malthus.zapto.org/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=33

WDR Full is not FREEWARE and it's PIRATED.

WDMarvel23 in russian could be downloaded from that link that now is down and i don't have it. Maybe someone who download it when the site was still up can send you a copy ?

Can I use "Repair" on donor PCB to regenerate ROM?
The original PCB is completely shot and cannot read (embedded) ROM any more.

Automatic function on WDR might not be very reliable.

Use manual method instead :

Thanks for the tip.
I'm trying to digest the manual method :-)

WDR Demo does not read the SA MOD.
Can you suggest any other tool?
I'm trying to recover data from my personal HDD.

I tried messaging you over at HDD oracle before posting here (last page).

For reading modules you can use a free version of SeDiv for WD.
WDR DEMO doesn't read modules, as stated.
Regarding malthus forum read here :

Regards.

No wonder.
I did not see that message.

All SeDiv trials I downloaded have malware detected.
Sediv.exe got zapped by the AV even before I could even open the folder.
Detected malware: UDS:DangerousObject.Multi.Generic

What do you mean by "Similar" ?

If you need "something" to work with modern Hitachi/IBM/HGST drives (older IBM native Arch M24 and modern ARM based) you can try to buy a $350 SeDiv. This will NOT work with very old native Hitachi drives like 2.5 IDE DK2xxx models but you should be ok as the majority of the IBM native models will be supported except latest models (as For that you would need a very expensive PC-3000).

SeDiv is the cheapest alternative that i know of to work with Hitachi/IBM/HGST firmware.

China HDD Union did only produce "pirated" tools for Seagate, Samsung, WD and Maxtor. There are no China HDD Union Hitachi/IBM tool.

The HRT complex that was "used" or "ripped off" by China HDD Union to make WDR/SRT does have a VERY GOOD IBM tool and even a Hitachi native tool for very old DK2xxx models. HRT 3.0 have tools up till HGST latest M24 arch and HRT 5.0 UDMA does have support for ARM based as well but you will not be able to buy this tool anywhere even used.

So you eirther get something like SeDiv or you invest in something more expensive like MRT Pro, PC-3000, DFL, etc ...

Here you have some captures of IBM and Native Hitachi tool (HRT/HDD48) :

http://www.hddoracle.com/viewtopic.php?f=189&t=2150

Here you have a IBM research done on M24 arch drives :
