Hallo, I'm a new user in this forum. I'm from Italy, near Venice, my english is not perfect so I apologize in advance for any errors.
I have some problems with my HP, has become really slow and often starts with the hp notebook test "System Diagnostic F2" because of some problems with the hard disk. After several searches, I found HDDSCAN.
I decided to try the software tool "SURFACE TEST" as explained on line and these are the results:

I have two questions about. First: how should I interpret the results?
Second question: how can I remedy this situation ?

My only hope, at the moment, is that my hard-disk will not leave me...

I thank whoever will give me an answer
David

Hello!

Consider replace your drive. ( Weak head/s )

If data on partitions is accessible, get it ASAP.

Good luck.

Thanks a lot, I was pleased to get your response.
Just a last question: except replacing hard disk, is there anything I can do to improve the situation of the current hard disk?

Eventually I'll replace my hard disk with a SSD or an SSHD.

May I ask you what do you think about SSHD?

Thank you very much, David

With proper tools and knowledge you can give it another very little life. BUT DON'T PUT YOUR IMPORTANT DATA ON IT.

Should be OK.

Good luck.

Just some "general" thaughts .....

I deal in PC and laptop repair biz since close 30 years. Todays laptop drives arent
made in same quality like 5 or 10 years ago, but one must realize that in same
size the capacity increased exponentially - causing that the slightes minor defect
might cause huge problems.

Due to inconsequence of users (even for biz) to back up their "important" data
they face data loss - and as a 2nd unlogical step (in ignoring their lacking ability)
asking for repair-advice for their hdd. ((dont missunderstand that - its not ment
for this actual request)).

A 500GB 2,5" costs about $ 50,- or less - a 1TB a little bit more .... so why mess
around to reuse a drive with issues ?

My daily advice to my customers with your question:
If you use your laptop normally - and if you dont play football with it or treat it
rude, than you can go on with a standard mechanical "old fashioned" hdd.
If you might face dangerous situations (kids, pets, sport, transportation, travel
etc.) - and/or you want to increase speed of hdd - than you should think to use
an SSD.

But - both drives could even fail a very short time after installation / usage.
Therefore - backup - backup - backup

And for the masses of inconsequent users there even exists a freeware like
AllwaySync or similar.....

If a user looses important data - its the users fault - nobody else is to blame.

Thanks a lot to everybody!!
My use of pc is a professional one: I'm a design engineer.
I think abuot installing SSD due to an improvement in the speed of my pc. A simple HDD, however, is already fast enough and reliable.
In these last days I tried to clean my pc from old datas and from unused software. I did a scandisk. These are the results...the test seems to give best results than the previous test.
What do you think about the results? Is the improvement non significant, or can we consider it significant?
