I use a 8 channel DVR package for my house, which is only under surveillance during the daytime, in terms of duration its approximately 6 hours at most.since I bought them not for a 24 x 7 surveillance, I had only 1TB of storage when I bought it from Canadian Security Professionals in Ontario. But now I want to upgrade my security system storage since I will be going for a week long 24 x 7 surveillance. The camera stream is H.264, 2 megapixel (1600 x 1200) cameras and recording 21 fps.Can anyone suggest me the optimum amount of storage ( DVR HDD ) required ?

I really appreciate for your response.I have calculated the amount of storage required. I guess its above 4TB.
So any recommendations you have for the best HDD ? In terms of brand, speed etc.?

hgst: example... such as HGST Deskstar NAS H3IKNAS30003272SN (0S03660) 3TB. You will discover that real time video can take take days to review. We set our systems to record events- that is motion with a bit before and after. Your one terrace drive may be capable of recording months depending on the amount of activity.
