Good apps for printing gobs of thumbnails?

January 16th, 2017, 12:18

Free tip: Never trust a "professional" photographer to keep your digital photos for any period of time. They will load all of them on a single hard drive, drop the drive, and break your heart.

Anyway, I occasionally get a drive from a photographer that has quite a few images and almost as many bad sectors.

Once I recover what I can, I'd like to print (to a PDF file) thumbnails of what I've got so they can approve my measly fee.

Basically, I'd like an app that follows a folder hierarchy and prints a thumbnail of each photo it finds (I'll send the output to a PDF app).

Anyone know of anything to do this?

Snap2IMG may be of some help. It still ends up being a humongous file often too large to share with the client. I've also tried browsing the recovered images in Picas and creating a video to share what I see, but it's often still too large. What I finally found that works best for me, is to set up a remote support session using AnyDesk and reverse sides as I browse the thumbnails in Picasa and chat on the phone with the customer. It lets them direct my attention to folders of particular interest without wading through all the chaff. The only problem so far is, I need to disable their ability to use their keyboard/mouse during the session so they don't run amuck, and I have been unable to do so, so far. It should work; I just haven't been able to get it to do so.
