How to recover data from a DPM 2010 Server?

August 24th, 2017, 5:30

Hi guys,

We have a Windows Server 2008 R2. This Server runs (DPM) Microsoft Data Protection Manager 2010 for our backup solution. DPM holds backups locally on a volume in
lots of little partitions which are not directly accessable through windows in the normal way, as in you can't access them through a drive letter. I think it works similar to the
normal Windows backup program on PC's.

Anyway..

For various reasons, the Server was damaged and the C:\ drive wiped by a virus. We are confident that the backup data is intact held in many little volumes and we need a
way to be able to recover the data. We can reinstall DPM, but from what I can find online, it's not jut as simple as that as I think DPM used a SQL database which was on
the old C:\ etc and will involve Microsoft. As such I would rather trying and recover the data using a tool or similar.

So, is there any program/app we can get that will allow us to read the data held in the many little DPM volumes and extract the data? I don't mind paying for a tool if there is one
available?

Chers!
