Tool comparison

December 4th, 2017, 6:15

Hi,
I am looking into different tools for data recovery and wonder what differs between them.

As I understand, the PC-3000 is the best one, but also the most expensive.
Will the MRT Express be enough to cover all the needs? Whats the benefit of PC-3000 instead of MRT Express?

Do you guys have any other suggestions of tools that cover most of the needs for data recovery?
What about Dolphin, SeDiv etc..?

Thanks!

Well, if you want to be well served for the next years, go for ACE PC-3000. Better support, better upgrades...

It's the best tool out there. Although it could be expensive at first, you will see that it's a better investment at long term (maybe not so long :D )

Hi,
Thanks for your response!
I think I will go for the Online version of MRT Express. It looks like it will cover most of my needs.

Anyone knows the biggest advantage for PC-3000 over MRT?

Biggest advantages of PC-3000 over MRT ? PC-3000 is way ahead and can do way more than MRT. It have support for many more drives. Any modern drive will be supported by PC-3000 and only way later on the game will it be supported by MRT. Also PC-3000 can decrypt on the fly encrypted drives and support considerable amount of encryption types. PC-3000 doesn't have a huge amount of "bugs" as MRT have and if you contact support they tend to solve the problems with the tool in a reasonable time/manner unlike MRT people that can take YEARS to solve simple bugs/problems or add support for some drives, etc ...

For example if you need to unlock terminal access on modern Seagate drives or decrypt on the fly newer WD drives you will be way better served with PC-3000 rather then with MRT ....

Completely true.
If you can order PC3000, go with it. Don't look back!

Hi again,
Thanks for your input!
I ended up with MRT. It was only a pricing issue. It was hard not to take the baite with their online-version down payment.

Now lets see if I will be satisfied :)

It is funny how people ask for advice on this forum and then choose not to listen to it.

There are good data recovery companies and there are companies that do not have pc3k.
Second ones can never become good data recovery companies.

It is in human nature, to play smart. Not anyone asks him self if this on line version is good and cheap why would someone buy something more expencive? And would those people who make tools that costs more , die from hunger?

if one is a master of writing his own soft for so many drives and models he does not have time to work on actual cases.

You either spend the money on your own R&D or you pay an employee to do it. It makes more economic sense to pay for PC3000 in most cases. I've seen labs who figure that they don't need PC3000, yet they charge 3 times as much and take at least twice as long to recover data than those who do have it.

That said, the tool is only part of the job.

A good mechanic can fix a car with basic tools, if they have good knowledge of cars. But, with high end tools, lifts and computers, they can do a better job faster and more economically.
