Tim,
Why not buy a second hand unit and do it yourself for this client .But LTO has Many Generations So you have to be sure what hardware you buy to solve the issue

That is an option, but as you say there are so many types. I am guessing you may also need legacy system for some.

Make the client commit to his data size - and how many tapes he wants it across - and if he approves compression. :)

Get him to subsidize yours... if you get an LTO7 or 8 ... and can give me a deal on it after you use it let me know how much.

Thanks for the offer, but this has already been referred out. Its not something I want to get into.
