Same serial number on SSD

June 22nd, 2019, 9:53

Hi! I just bought 5 SSD to put those on a RAID, after spending 2 days on different kind of errors with different RAID controllers, I discovered that 2 of the 5 disk have the same internal (firmware) serial number!, and all 5 ssd do not match the printed serial number with the one on it's firmware...
is there any tool to change the serial number? I found some tools that can change the partition or volume serial number but can't find a tool to change the internal (firmware) serial number. Attached is a PDF with the photos of the disks and I used "HD Tune Pro Drive Status" to see the internal serial numbers.
thanks in advance for your help

Return the SSDs to the guy who did sell them to you ? Goes without saying those SSDs most likely were patched with firmware tools and repaired/refurb ... Can be faked, can be damaged SSDs that had S.M.A.R.T. cleared to hide problems, etc ...

If they were too cheap there is a high chance that you were scammed ...
