Hello, I have hd Seagate Laptop Thin 500GB with dead PCB. And i have donor pcb with similiar series (seagate laptop thin 500GB), but the firmware series is different. The broken hd firmware is HPM2 and the hd donor is HPM6. Could i exchange the ROM to get the data back? Is it compatible? Thank you |

you didnt mentioned the model of the drive. if the drive is not SED then you can do it , sure. |

the firmware is on the platter , not in the rom. |

Thank you for the answer The model is same ST500LM000. But the firmware series is a bit different HPM2 and HPM6. Is it compatible? |

Since you already have the board, just swap ROM and test. |
