[entering MACHO mode]
Usually women can't change a bulb, since when are them going around with torx screwdrivers instead of lipsticks in their bags? :D

If some company placed the platter upside down in the HDA, can i read the data back with reversing the rotation with swapping the spindle's wires + modify the headmap?

Gurus, i have one question for you (except BlackST. :D )

I have one SP0802N with 2 head.
The H0 is dead.

After i read out the H1 side, can i do the following steps to read out the other side:

1. flip the platter upside down
2. cross the spindle's 2 wires to reverse the rotation
3. rewire the 2 MR sensors in the MHA. (H1 to the H0's input pins)
4. read the H0's side with H1. :D

Is there a way to do that? :)
Somebody know the correct answer?

Regards,
Janos

in the old days you could happily re-wire conner drives as an example

for your question

1. flip the platter upside down
2. cross the spindle's 2 wires to reverse the rotation
3. rewire the 2 MR sensors in the MHA. (H1 to the H0's input pins)
4. read the H0's side with H1.

2:Easy don't need step two, you can just read the drive in reverse mode ;o)
3: Take the head stack and turn it upside down. No wire needed :O)

This was a really ontopic answer. :D

Anybody have another idea, opinion? :)

To be very frankly, your drive can be recovered, but as blackST said, your mp3s or movies may run backward..

also, you will get your jpegs upside down. (I.E. face down to ground and legs hanging in the air)

Can I do hot swap while the drive is running?

I did not see my LBA and went on Internet to download a free software to try and find it and the software did a low level format on my LBA and now my LBA is still showing 0 can you recover my drive?

That is how perform best platter transplants; while the drive is fully initialized you grab the platters with your bare hands and swap them

You then use the fingers you have left to dial 911 and call for an ambulance.
