I had an incoming wd 2500ks today, not previously opened.

I opened up the lid and what did i see?

Some chinese writings (by hand) on top magnet and an X on the top of the head arm.

:? :? :?

I don't really work with KS's but i find this very weird. The lid has not been opened before I am 100% sure.

I thought of that, but shouldn't it be mentioned somewhere that it is a refurbished drive?

AIUI, refurbished WD drives have an "R" on the label.

The following example has an "R" appended to the date field:

Could that be it?

None of these appear on this drive's sticker. I can scan it for you if you wish.

Well i should contact wd and tell them that if they want to have surprises stored in their drives, it 'd better be one with alcohol or...

I'll forgive that it makes fun of one of my favourite ST versions. :)

I didn't quite end up with coffee coming out of my nose - but it was close! I'll never think of facepalms in quite the same way again, thanks to you :D
