Hello. I've got WD3200BUDT-62DPZY0 HDD and i tried to put it from HD Digital Sat Tv player/recorder to PC if anyone of You friends have this exactly same model in any other device it would be perfect if it worked in LBA mode or maybe someone had the same issue with it (the device is recognized in bios, but with "0" capacity and only thing that is possible to read is SMART and its attributes are in good shape).

asking for your help Guru's :)

Seems like dead subject. Any news with this drives?
i had send one of them to DR-KIEV - specialist from Ukraine, but now he doesn't answer, after receiving the drive he told me that drive is bad. But I know that in the TV-recorded it worked flawlessly, and ONLY in computer it shows as 0GB capacity and not supporting LBA (mhdd info)
If someone knows this subject please share Your findings.
cheers
Peter

DR-KIEV is very reliable and credible, I don't think there is a reason to second guess his analysis results.

>DR-KIEV is very reliable and credible

right.. that's why i asked him for help

but in the end, he does keep my drive for himself, he stopped responding right after receiving the drive. DR-KIEV if You think the drive is bad, please turn it back, couse it worked great in my tv-gear/sat-recorder - only PC's dont want to "see" it correctly, and that's every the same with every single drive from these satellite-decoders/hdd-recorders. WTF?

We discussed the issue with DR-Kiev, so this topic may be closed. Thank You.
But still WD3200BUDT problem stays not solved, for users which have these drives still has to be found some workaround to unlock the firmware.

Replace module 02 on the locked drive with module 02 of identical unlocked drive.

,,, or carve MOD 02 out of MOD 802F, if it exists.

fzabkar, it seems you are the expert with HDDs, are you able to tell me how to get a Hitachi SAS 300GB 10K Model: HUC106030CSS600 to work under windows?
I have used SG3 ultility to format it to 512b from 520b per sector, but it can't be initialized in windows DM, comes up "Device I/O Error"
I will pay for your service provided.
Thank you in advance.

Alan
