Job Description

Evaluate and determine if and how data can be recovered from a wide variety of recording and storage media, including magnetic, flash and optical media, file systems and databases.
Recover data from media with a wide variety of problems, including moderate physical, electrical, and firmware damage.
Replace defective read/write head assemblies and transplant platters on defective hard drives.
Analyze and recover damaged file systems and deleted files.
Participate in on-job training and self-education on the new data recovery technologies and techniques.
Prepare data to be returned to the clients.

Required knowledge, skills, experience, competencies

Minimum 3-4 years experience in Computer Hardware repair function.
Proficiency with MS DOS, MS Windows, Apple Mac OS, Linux.
Hands on experience disassembling various computer and peripherals hardware.
Electronic components soldering skills.
Good problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
Fluent English and good communication skills. Ability to work in a team.
Programming and scripting skills is a plus.

Preferred knowledge, skills, experience, competencies

Replacing defective HSA (head assemblies) and transplanting platters on damaged HDDs skills.
Understanding of NTFS, HFS, ExtFS file system internal structures
Working knowledge of hard drive functionality
Experience with analyzing and repairing corrupted HDD firmware (System Area).
