Do you need the data inside the drive ?
When it spins, does it click ?

hi Spildit,
Thank for replying.Yes i need data from drive,i have some tools to work with firmware, but problem seems physical.
Some time spindle seems stuck..and also messages on terminal..rpm 0 like.and some time spin..some time sounds like scratching platter by head,i did not open the casing yes because did not find donor yet..it may be head or motor problem..so i want a second opinion about the LED codes these new drives ..

Did you or anyone here face these code or problem like this.?

Is your drive out of an external?

I disagree with this as next step.

I suspect the drive is not from an external, which would eliminate any sort of shock that could indicate the motor is faulty. As result, for me it is a PCB issue.

But it would be nice if the OP confirmed some of this...

This is an External portable drive ,it is not sure that it has been dropped or not , As i received drive from third person for recovering.

Since it came from an external, then, as spildit mentioned already, internal problem chances are much higher.

If ruling out PCB issue (wondering if anybody has tampered with it), then pro help is more than likely required, namely a qualified one with cleanroom as suggested earlier by hhddrec.

Sorry to post on a 5 year old thread, but in case someone reads it:

Working on a 2TB version of the OP's drive today, ST2000LM024 Samsung Momentus from a Seagate external drive.
Customer said they spilled soda on it.
PCB is damaged, some short somewhere (did not have time to rule out every component), just keeps BSY on power on. Replaced faulty PCB with ROM transfer, on power-on the drive buzzes with LED1703 in the terminal - opened in cleanroom and it is a stiction problem. Also, lots of debris. Needs head assembly cleaned/replaced as well, as at least one head is very problematic in reading with it.

So, typically, professional help will be needed with this type of circumstances to maximize chances of recovery.

Hope this helps a future reader.
