I would like to invite all you guys who read this to post here what tools would you like us to make.
We are finishing Hitachi ramp set and plan to work on future jobs.
Is that some other then seagate bearing solution or scsi head change tools?
Any idea welcomed.

I dont really recover from Hard Disks, But.. I want to say that to see a Vendor involved in a Customer/Scene/Enthusiast/Whatever Forum is VERY Good to see. And asking us what we need and what we want is great. I get emails and Phone calls from Dell, HP, Acer etc all the time saying things like "If there is anything you need or anything you would like to discuss, please give me a call" And when you do, you get directed to, or a quote, from their customer portal that lists the products the already sell... So not sure why they have those roles apart from putting through all the requests when their web portals don't work. (SOPBOX ALERT!)

I just wish the Flash memory Recovery Vendors could take notice of this example. :-)

Wd passport 4 platters is already made. We are wroking on box for them, and to offer them as a "refill"
we will be sending new box with only them inside, so you guys can just tranfer other tools in it.
New ramp sets will include them.

As for 7200.7 how many platters do you guys need?

First of all I want to say hello to everybody here on the forum because this is my first post. Hopefully this forum will become a place where we will be able to communicate about everything regarding HDDSurgery tools. We will from our side do our best to provide full support to our clients. From the other side it would be great to hear our client's opinion on different questions and one of the more interesting for us would be "What next?".

My first post will be about ramp tool for WDC 2.5'' 4 platter 8 heads.
We have been working on its design in August and in September we got few perfectly functional prototypes.

This type of 2.5'' WDC hard drives (4 platters/8 heads) have not existed in the time when we start developing and producing our HDDS WDC 2.5-3.5 rampset. We couldn't know that such hard drives will appear on the market and that is the only reason why 4 platter tool is not included in our WDC rampset. Now it's done and it will be included in WDC rampset in near future.

Here are the few pictures of prototype:

we mostly have seen the two platter ones.

I do not want you to make special tools just for us. If there is a market for that family then cool :) if not i would rather you spend time on the newer drives.

I tried the tool for the 7200.8 but that did not line up right.

We see these maybe once a month, so it is not a big issue since we have other ways to get the heads off. it was jsut a thought.

That is great news on the WD ramps. thanks

It is not a problem we make tool one whey or another.
It is just orded of making them. We offer them to public. You do not pay development or anything.
This is why we ask :) what next .

Have you tried using the WD 2.5 ramp for Toshiba? The locking pin does not fit but the tool is fine for these.

Hitachi 3.5'' Ramp Set (with assistant tool included) is designed, functional prototypes are already made and we plan to start selling it in next month or something like that.
Perhaps it will be good New Year news for some of you. :)

Hitachi 2.5'' Ramp Set is next on the list. We are already thinking about it and development will start immediately after we start selling Hitachi 3.5'' ramp set.

I would prefer to have cheaper plastic ones and lots of them, so I could keep HSAs separately from drives.
Something like that - http://www.google.com/patents/US7832083

precise and plastic do not go in same sentence.
best you can get with plastic moulds is 1/10 of a mm.
For tool to be good you need 100 times more precise tehnology.
Problems accure if messurments are in +/- 2/100 of a mm.
Imposibile to do it in plastic and to be good enogh.
