Hello Guys,

Am looking for someone who knows about Signal Jammer for Wifi/GSM

I have a device here which used to work before when i bought it (the Portable ver.)
and i noticed now that its not working anymore, and i don`t use it much
but good sometimes to use to Kill Mobile/Wifi Signals

Anyone knows about it? or where to begin diagnosing here?

My device looks like this: http://www.100-gift.com/uploads/138/248 ... 02-873.jpg

pcb images attached

thank you

Hi Einstein9, You should know better to provide more details than that ;-)

What do you mean by it used to work, now it doesn't?

1. Does it get power at all?

2. you could try changing the rechargeable battery.. we have a place here by the name of batteryworld that can make specialised batteries or refurbish your.. maybe you have a similar store?

3. with a multimeter, check continuity on all components marked "L" also R9.

4. You could also look up the data sheets of the IC's and find the VCC pin, take a ground with the black lead and test each IC VCC pin to see if the voltage is there with the red positive lead

5. does it work when the power pack is attached?

6. also you can get a "freeze air" spray. This is helpful to find bad solder joints. You power up the device and spray on the various solder points. The metal contracts and if you see signs of life, you start looking for solder joints that are dry or broken. Particuarly around places wires are soldered in and power sockets.

Not sure if the RED battery lead looks a little bad solderwise.. hard to see.

HI,

Well, not working means Power is ON, battery is OK very good (tested)
but when i power it ON nothing happens
no jamming Wifi or any other

:>

Ask someone with a spectrum analyzer in the 5 GHz range to check it . 30 seconds . You should see a sweeping signal or "block noise" (most probably the first) unless its working principle is something else.

Too bad I can't borrow you the instrument.

P.S. if you have a certain work flow in the RF field it is something worth having. Used and calibrated Agilent 26-28 GHz are in the 10k EUR range, if you need lower end like 18 GHz price drops a lot, 2-3k EUR. Usually the higher the frequency the higher the low end range let's say you have 1 MHz to 26 GHz and another is 10 KHz to 10 GHz. Of course if you work with LW or i.e. EAS the second is perfect. I have to use both :(

Your device does not appear to be designed to jam WiFi.

Yes, we have played with similar device here.

I don't have anything besides a tablet, so can't check .RAR contents, but according to the picture, the jammer looks like many of its twins from China. Quite likely the problem is something typical to the "tools" from there, like bad soldering or cheap components.

So I believe it may be worth repairing just for fun only and if you need such device for some reason it would be better just to order a new one instead (at least because your time is obviously more expensive).

A quick check with a multimeter and an ordinary "baseband" oscilloscope should verify the function of the buck regulator and signal / noise/ sweep generator ICs. Since the device is stated to be nonfunctional on any output, then the problem would most likely not be at the output end (ie not V1 / V2 / V3).

It would help if we could see the markings on IC1 and IC2. The tab of IC3 would be the Vcc for the circuit.

All you probably need is a $5 multimeter and some basic electronics knowledge. The URL I provided is designed to get you to the latter goal for free. To me it looks like a potentially trivial job for a competent tech. I suspect that IC1, IC2, and IC3 are commonly available chips costing around $1.

BTW, it helps to know what the board actually does (ie no WiFi) before you decide that it's not working. ;-)

Hint: Look under the LED at the LHS of the PCB.

fzabkar,

thnx for the tips here my dear,

i was suspecting on the V1,2,3 & also i need to know another source & supplier in china for such parts
since my supplier is some how too lazy now.

thnx again

@einstein9, all you appear to have done is to measure the battery voltage, and we don't even know whether that was done under load.

If you care to put the device aside, one day when I'm visiting my special friends, I'll endeavour to help you in person. :-)

In fact you should ask a colleague who has one to check it (it takes no more than 5 min.) .... or get another one , seen on ebay et al. at a small price.
A person here always says "Life is too short to be NOT paid for your time " :D

P.S. there are more professional solutions to do what you want that do not cost a fortune and won't break in a flash like chinese el-cheapo stuff. Not things to be discussed here, though.

this is a old jammer for sure and cell phone technology moves on and makes these obsolete
you could pot tweak it to output a higher frequency
might do the older phones but not the new type
