hello guys im new to the forum,

recently i had everyday for 4 times bsod and after analysing the minidump files its hard disk problem.
so i scanned the hard drive with hdd regenerator and found 2 delays and 13 bad sectors.
hard disk sentinel found 39007 times problem in ultra ata crc error count and 1 problem in rellocation event count.(so hd tune did)
so its health is 99 and performance 75 but after opening the laptop and cleaning the hdd and the ports, performance is 100%.
all these above is for your information,im waiting for your help and any tests you want me to do to the hdd.
i hope the hdd in not completely destroyed and it can be saved somehow.

thanks for your understanding and waiting for your response.....

Copy the files off and replace the drive.

Unless you feel like paying 500 EUR to get your data recovered later, replace it.

The problems might seem like they went away now, because the drive remapped the bad sectors, but it will only get worse over time.

all im saying is that im hoping tha it was dust in the ports ,so this caused the bad sectors and miscommunication between drive and host,
cause after the cleaning it was stable.....if there is something we can do?
of course i did backup, maybe i ll buy a new one but i want to use this as external not to throw it?
maybe a low level format?

There is no thing like a low level format, not at the way you are thinking.

You can run a scan with mhdd, and after that if the disk runs ok make your choice of replacing it or continue to use. Best to keep backups, though.

*maybe* your problems were caused just by dirt, if the connectors were really dirty.Either way, running hdd regenerator is just a recipe to help kill it faster.

to be honest the was no dirt at all just after i took the hdd out and pull it back,no more problems apeared.still as i told i found 1 delay and 13 bad sectors but after that i run hard disk sentinel and hdd regen nad other programs and they didnt find any problems.i run scan also with hd tune pro and its factory diagnostic wich was frozen where the bad sectors are.but its been days now that hdd is stable and doesnt appear any problems.
one thing why you said that hdd regenerator will kill the hard disk earlier?

Must be a really dirty environment to cause bad sectors. If it is only a year old, why not RMA it?

It has already been suggested.. replace it.
Whenever a HDD starts acting up, more pain and time wasted trying to find software to fix a problem that in reality, is unknown.

If I gave you a task to fix something, but couldn't tell you what, could you be successful?

Using it as a different drive that is "not important" will only lead to bad things. there is no magical software to fix it... maybe it will hide the problems but if it is going bad just replace it

That address points to a file on your drive. Only a hacker will be able to see it.

The SMART report echoes your original Hard Disk Sentinel and HD Tune observations. It doesn't look too bad, but SMART won't necessarily catch "slow" sectors. I would use the drive for non-critical data, but I would keep a close eye on it.

As for the UDMA CRC Errors, could they have been due to problems in your friend's machine? If so, and if they have stabilised, then you wouldn't need to worry about them.

The surface scan doesn't look good. Too many slow blocks. :-(

That said, Windows is not the best environment in which to test a drive. That's because your diagnostic software has to compete with other tasks for the attention of the CPU. It would be much better to test with MHDD in real DOS mode, but I suspect that your drive may be genuinely "weak".

The bad blocks appear to start at LBA 532824064. That's around the 272GB point. If you really insist on getting some use out of this drive, then create a 271GB partition for your more important data and partition the remainder of the drive for less important stuff.

A low level format will just write zeros to your drive. IIUC, HDD Regenerator reads each sector and writes the same data back to the drive. If you've already run HDD Regenerator against your drive, then I can't see how a second run will be of any benefit.
