True, but never had an issue with this vendor and shipping is on point. Service is good, like donordrives and effectiveelectronics, etc.

@aynz Yep still updating, thanks for your suggestions, I have added them both.

An update on stats, I am now seeing an average of 5.6 searches / day over the last year, and for September to date 9 searches / day!

I have also been speaking to one supplier who I have temporarily removed due to their site being redeveloped (ultratecdirect.com), they are letting me know when it is relaunched and I will add it back onto the search again.

Craig

Added a New supplier website:

http://www.hkmingdi.com/enindex.asp

This is the site of Mr Eric Lee, however he has recommended that emailing him is sometimes best as their entire inventory is not online (eric_lee8341@hotmail.com).

Doing a little maintenance on the search engine, haven't touched it for ages! I have just requested permission from pcb4you to add to the search, also, I am seeing a lot more hits:

Distinct queries per day: Mar 25, 2012 - Mar 25, 2013 (distinct queries: 2710, total queries: 3482)

That's over 9.5 queries / day, the most popular search is for a wd10ears-00y5b1.

If anyone can recommend any new sites I would happily add them, this is the current list:

Hi all,
I'm a new member to this site but have lurked around for quite a while.

I just want to give some advice ref PCB4you, relating to my experience with the guy "running" it!

It started on the 27th Jan and is still not resolved as yet.

I contacted them re adaptive data replacement on a WD board.

After buying a board from them and paying for the adaptive data transfer I sent off my PCB...

Unfortunately they could not do the transfer as the PCB does not have the external ROM chip...but for a sum £££ would do the full data recovery.

This I declined on the 6th Feb, asked for the return of my PCB and the PCB I purchased from them... and a refund for the adaptive service cost ( and dont say they should keep it...they did nothing in the way of diagnostics except look at the PCB and say U12 isn't there!)

17 emails later I eventually get told the PCB has been sent (17th Feb)..

They reply to approx every 3rd email I have sent, answer none of the questions in the emails... and I still do not know what they are returning!

Telephone just rings... so I have given up trying to get in contact that way.

Personally I wouldn't recommend them to look at a floppy disk!

One thing I can forgive is lack of technical knowledge ( I am not however saying they do not have technical knowledge...they might well have!)... common courtesy however costs nothing.

I for one wouldnt use them again

Hi Chris,

Please accept my apologies although I cannot offer any guarantees of service from any of the search results which are provided from this search engine, it's good to hear about the good/bad experiences people have had though.

On a lighter note, a new site has been suggested to me and has now been added, this is http://www.mydonordrives.com by the guys behind Deepspar.

Again, if anyone has any further suggestions for sites please feel free to get in touch.

Thanks,

Craig

Hi Craig, absolutely no reflection on this forum or its members... some of the emails from PCB4You had me astounded... basically the guy has said that life is for living, chill out...the PCB's arrived back yesterday and I eventually got some sense from the guy... although he has said it wasn't him causing the delays but his staff???

Upshot is that the PCB part of the business is too much hassle for him and he is going to close it????

One company I would recommend is MJM Data Recovery (UK) and a guy named Derek Watson. at DRSUK LTD.

regards

Chris

Is hdd-parts.com still in business? I've been waiting over two weeks for a PCB to arrive, got no answer to yesterday's e-mail asking what's up, and their answering machine is full. I like to support Canadian businesses but this is abysmal service.

Hi larrysabo, did you ever get your PCB from hdd-parts.com (same ppl as onepcbsolution.com).

Im looking for a place to swap a few PCBs and do a FW transfer and was going to use them but then read your comment and it got me worried. I also tried calling them today (on a friday during normal business hours, although it is the day after thanksgiving) and could not get an answer (only voicemail).

please let us know, or if anyone else has suggestions for a PCB swap with FW transfer shop, preferably in the US please make a post. I have a new thread pending for admin approval requesting any good experiences with PCB swap shops.

thanks

Yes, I did receive the PCB. I haven't tried other PCB suppliers so can't comment on their pros/cons. Well, other than HDDSupplier who charged me a restocking fee because the donor drive I ordered was incompatible. Other than that, they were okay.

PS - I believe from their paperwork, they are the same organization as donordrives.com, but would have to dig out the invoice to be sure.

hmm, ok if you get a chance please do check the paperwork to see if they are the same as donordrives.

I assumed they weren't, as donorodrives has a 440 area code and a Cleveland, OH mailing address versus (onepcb and hdd-supplier) who are in canada.

thanks for the reply

Both hdd-parts.com and onepcbsolution.com appear to be business names registered to datarecoverypro.com. In fact they use the same shipping address (DataPro Data Recovery Lab at White Rock BC). I would be very unhappy if they were now affiliated with Donor Drives. :-(

AFAICT Hdd-parts originally operated out of the USA, as did DataRecoveryPro:

I'll dig out the invoice today and clarify this, thanks.

BTW, I was suggesting that HDDSupplier may be affiliated with donordrives.com, not that HDD-Parts was. HDDsupplier are not in Canada, as far as I know. It was a US address that I dealt with. In any case, I'll look up the invoice and try to find the reason for thinking they were association.
