hi,

I got western usb hard drive. when I connect to pc via usb, usb is not detected but the drive spins up with 4 clicking noise then stop spinning. my question: is the problem with the board or the drive.

4 clicks=Searching servo because heads are down......
Spin down=Put drive itself safe mode.

It can't identify the hard drive model since it fails to initialize. Thus the "usb not detected" error.

It's heads, not PCB. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen this model with a bad PCB. It's pretty much always heads.
