To any kind soul that can help me repair the 4 HDD that is bricked...

I am a total newbie in this software, but I tried to read the ROM of the DFL tool on 4 western digital hard disk and the device said "ROM read success", so when I tried to write the ROM that I have just read out from the tool, I was being prompt with "ROM deep test error" (or something like that) and something about the "ROM being of a different length , would you like to force write" and I just ignored the warning and proceed to write the ROM. Now whenever I plug the HDD into the DFL tool, the 2 lights that are flashing are "DRD" and "ERR", the HDD is not even spinning anymore, please help SOS...

Q: why have you tried to read and write in the first place ?
Q: what's the initial problem with the drive ?
Q: do you have any other tool beside DFL ? (PC3K, external programmer)
Q: can DFL access the PCB using terminal ?
Q: would you mind upload the ROM here ?

If drives are WD you can do a hotswap and rebuild ROM from SA. Look in DFL forum, there should be a manual how to do that. Do not try that on client drives but two known fully working ones for practice first.

Do not ignore warnings in DR-tools, most time they are right and you can trash a drive with them fast (ie defect list erase, ...).

Best regards,

Did you read DLF WDII manual before you start bricking hard drives?
What was problem with those WD's.

The WD HDD did not have any problem at the start until I tried writing its original ROM back to it.

I really don't get it, if the drive didn't have any problem in the first place, why would you try to rewrite the ROM
I really hope it doesn't belong to a client
Regardless what is the 2 files (I.e. which one is the problematic) ?

Both ROM are problematic just from different HDD. I was just trying to explore the different features of the software.

I can't check your ROM now, but This ROM is the same ver. as your ROM_WDC WD5000LPCX-00VHAT0.bin.txt just transfer the adaptives
the question is if you have access to drive to flash another ROM I.e. using TTL or external programmer.
Regarding the other one - like I said - I can't check it now, and I wasn't able to find it either.
