Hi, I've bought 5 months ago a MaxDigital HD on AliExpress. :D
Model: MD32500GSATA
PCB: 2060-771822-002 REV A
One month ago I connected it to a IDE power source by a IDE to SATA adaptor.
The adaptor was broken and the HD received +12V on the Ground rail.
The motor of the HD still spin, but it isn't recognized by the pc.

I can't find the pcb board for a replacement.
How can I repair it? Where can I find a pcb board or the IC with the ROM of this HD?

Thanks afterwards!!

Your drive is a refurbished/rebranded WD.

Here's a PCB for you just up in Germany: http://www.ebay.com/itm/PCB-Controller- ... SwNSxVgAaY

Don't worry if it's not from the same model/capacity drive, the PCB will work once you make the proper modifications. You'll just need to physically move the chip labeled U12 from the original PCB to the replacement to make it compatible.

I'm not going to promise this will fix your issue, it's still possible that the power surge killed the heads. Perhaps if you describe what it's doing we'd have a better idea.

I have disassembled the PCB from the HD.
I have seen that the electronic component that fired up is the D3 diode.
I think the U12 IC isn't broken and if I'll replace the U12 of the new PCB with this U12 the HD will work, am I right? :?:
If the HD won't work I can try to replace the diode. :D :!:

Actually, you can just remove that diode and it might work. I wouldn't trust it for long, as it'll be susceptible to power surge, but it'll probably work long enough to copy the data out once as long as your power supply is good.

It appears that D3 is shorted and R67 is open. This often (usually?) means that the preamp (inside the HDA) is dead.

This is what usually happens:

Good luck with U12, but I expect it will be a lost cause. :-(
