Hello, I am looking for someone who can help with data recovery for Seagate Mobile HDD ST2000LM007 1R8174-568 FW: SBK2. This drive spins up and keeps spinning, but is detected with zero capacity and there is not data access.
This seems to be a firmware issue, but this drive seems to be not supported by last PC3000 utility, and with F3 common arch utility I get the diagnostic port locked message.
Please, help.

Well,
I am still not convinced that signed firmware like in these drives can be cracked ,hacked bypassed so easily .The only thing i think few people do is change heads and keep their fingers crossed .The best thing is send to seagate data recovery centre they can do this 100%

seagate returned a drive said the ROM chip is damaged, when I inquire on phone and ask them to adopt a ROM they said they can't further they mentioned that ROM is encrypted as well ..

all we can hope is ACE guys bring some solution to these nightmares :(

Well,
I am really interested to know if indeed someone has got both these models image 100% by just changing heads .Model No 1 is ST1000LM035 And Model No 2 Are ST2000LM007

Is there anything that would convince you? :)
Anyway, what makes you think it was easy to bypass? (actually it is easy once you know how to do it :) )

Well,
Being into data recovery for the third year i am very convinced that after a few years once you settle down in business and investment its great to reverse engineer and research .I am sure that day will come some when i have time for good research ,Till that time our capabilities as DR Techs Will Remain Lower then a very few individuals always .I am actually wonderstruck that till now a great reverse engineering team like Acelab does not have a capability to handle these drives ,Or indeed this is already done but only a few selected people across the world know this .I always believe that there is a top level group of DR guys across the world who are strongly connected to each other with the help of internet and they are the once who have most of the solutions .All Said And Done When it Comes To Physical Work i can put to shame some extremely tech Savy and experienced engineers .We Can Really handle a lot of really bad cases in mechanical drives .

Ps : Peter "Pepe" and Doomer There is never a doubt in my mind about the capabilities of both you guys i lookup to you always as one of the most experienced seniors that i can ask for

What makes you suppose this?

I am sure at 99.99% that ACE has the solution ..... another thing is to offer it in a pc3K update (it will).

At this moment it is more "profitable" to use it by other means .......

sell capability to NSA, 1 job = $1,000,000
Create reliable support in PC3K = COST $lots + return from subscriptions/new customers in short term to make more than $1,000,000

not saying this is whats happening, but you do the math in this scenario.

also,

1 guy alone in his home lab with the passion and a decent day job to pay for some tools can do some amazing work for relatively low cost.
a company paying a lab to develop stuff for their product does not have the focus - there are SO MANY "cool" things to work on.. plus these guys often do not have the focus/passion.

just because ACE didnt develop your specific need does not mean they dont have a million $ lab with brilliant people.

forget reasons why, work with what you have and develop what you can.

matters more what "is" and not what "should be"

my 2c

:)

Hello,
This is what i am saying to i am sure they have it and this solution is shared between a few highly technical guru users

the ACELab solution was ready a week ago(long after these drives were cracked by certain people), not sure when it's gonna be released.

As for "a million dollar lab", Seagates are RE-ed by one guy - Max, and he's just one guy, he's good but he's not even the best.

Well,
This is one reason i do understand the broader world wide picture of guru level Techs .I am Yet Not Close To That But one day if i survive and learn good i will reach there with self determination .If you are determined to RE a Seagate or For That Matter Any Drive Its Not Long It Can Survive without you understand how it works and how it can be cracked its not impossible its possible but takes great dedication .In My This third Year In Data Recovery Here In India i Am Determined To Complete My Infrastructure .Once That is Done i am a free bird will definitely dedicate time for new drives and hard solutions .My Research in Physical Work is already at Its Peek and i Have Done Great Progress in that [ Even Then Few Tools More Are Required ] and might be some custom Tools will be looking for some 3d Etc Printers ,CNC Routers And Laser Cutters ,

PS : Again My Due Respects To Two Of The Most Brilliant DR Techs Worldwide

translator regeneration on these drive is very very tricky due to particular features of the FW, it is extremely dangerous to use m0,6,2...... without checking NRGlist... which was missed in the video. I would say you are lucky if they were no entries on it (which is very unlikely on newer drives).

read precautions here:

Yes, you are correct, I would recommend what ACE says, do not modify any FW on these drives, you could loose your data.
