Hi guys,

I have Seagate Barracuda (ES.2) - 750 GB. It worked for me 7 years nicely. Month ago I was downloading several files directly from the web using browser and suddenly Windows OS halted. I restarted the computer, it worked very slow and all partitions located in Seagate HDD were missing.

I spend about a month trying to restore partitions and data. I used different programs:

EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard 6.0
Recuva
iCare data Recovery Software
SeaTools for Windows
EaseUS Partition Master 9.3.0
Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery
MiniTool Power Data Recovery
DiskCheckup
Macrorit Disk Scanner Free
HDDScan

Each of them scanned my Seagate HDD from 2 to 6 days. The result was all the same, all sectors are bad.

Then decided to ask professionals for help. Maybe you'll have some ideas what I can do next to restore my data.

Kind Regards,
Harold

Thank you for your reply.

1 - Does the drive click or make any strange noises ?

It clicks when I connect it to computer using USB port (I bought Deltaco USB - SATA connector).

HDD spins when it is connected.

When the drive is connected to computer using internal SATA connection, the computer works extremely slow.

2 - Can you plug the drive to a TLL and check the log ?

Where can I check the log ?

There is no point in scanning the drive for DAYS with software if you can't do a very quick scan with victoria on the start middle and end of the drive.

Using HDDScan I scanned only start, middle and end, but other programs like EaseUS, Recuva, ... do not have such possibility to select range of sectors.

It seems the situation with my drive is like you described:

the heads trying to read something and then just spinning sound without any more clicking

I'll try to connect the drive to TTL adapter.

By the way if you use something like MHDD does it "see" the drive with full correct capacity or does it show either 0 LBA or BSY register status allways lit (green) ?

I only tried software, which works on Windows OS.

As I understand MHDD works on MS-DOS. Does it have version for Windows ?

Show us the SMART report. Look for reallocated, pending or uncorrectable sectors.
